A caption tops out at 2,200 characters at the time of writing, and every space, emoji and line break counts towards that total. The profile bio is far shorter, around 150 characters, so a repeated phrase there has to be brief. Posts also allow a maximum of thirty hashtags, which is worth remembering if the string you are repeating happens to begin with a hash symbol.

Comments have their own ceiling, and Instagram usually refuses a comment that runs past it without explaining why. If a long comment will not post, halve the repeat count and try again rather than assuming something is broken. The counter on this page gives you the number before you paste, which is quicker than guessing your way through the app.

Instagram trims whitespace. Spaces at the end of a line disappear, and consecutive empty lines are often collapsed into one when the caption is published, so carefully spaced text can arrive looking flat. The behaviour is not consistent between the app, the web version and third-party schedulers, which is why an identical caption can look different depending on how it was posted.

The usual workaround is to place a single invisible character on each spacer line, so the line is not technically empty and survives the trim. Generate one, paste it onto every blank row of your repeated block, and the spacing holds. Paragraph output here gives you the blank rows; you only need to fill the ones where you want a gap to remain.

Instagram watches for repetitive behaviour, especially in comments. Posting the same string under many different posts, or the same comment again and again under one post, is a recognised spam pattern and can lead to a temporary action block that stops you commenting, liking or following for hours or days. Repeated text inside your own caption carries much less risk than repeated comments on other people's posts.

Keep it to your own content, or to conversations where the other person is clearly enjoying it. Do not use repeated text to bury someone else's comments, to push a message at accounts that never asked for it, or to game a hashtag. Beyond the written rules, a caption that runs three screens of the same word mostly just gets scrolled past.
